Handgun Training Education for EducatorsWho would ever think that in order to operate something safely and effectively, NO training is necessary? Who looks at an air traffic controller and says, “Wow, I would love that job, I'm sure he didn't have to go through any kind of training.”? Who thinks of an Army sergeant and thinks, “Well, whatever it is that he does with those privates, he sure does it well; I'm sure he didn't have to go through any education or have any experience.”? Training is necessary, even and especially in high-risk, dangerous subjects and areas. Front Sight Firearms Training Institute takes a proactive point of view in the matter of handgun training. The founder and director, Ignatius Piazza has a very direct point of view on the matter of gun control and firearms, “In our country, every time a misguided individual on psychiatric drugs goes on a killing spree, anti-self defense legislators, watch the polls and exploit the dead victims in order to fool the public into accepting more gun control. The problem is not guns. Guns don't cause these incidents to occur anymore than cameras cause child pornography or automobiles cause traffic fatalities.” What an interesting point of view that is: that guns cause no more incidents than cameras cause child pornography. What would the average American say in response to this? The writer for Cybercast News Service seems to think that the average response of school administrators or officials is negative. Maybe this is true. Why should it be, though? Just as we've tacitly agreed that men and women who hold dangerous, difficult jobs are good at what they do and are competent because of their training, why can't all of America see that handgun training leads to safe handguns? Handgun training should not be an anathema idea. America needs to wake up and realize that handguns are not going away, and for safe handguns, we need handgun training. Front Sight has it, America needs to get it. |
